vprot.exe is in most cases part of AVG Toolbar component (AVG SafeGuard toolbar). vprot.exe protects AVG Toolbar and default search settings of your browser to keep AVG Safe Search as your primary search - which is btw a way AVG can monetize the searches - so this application can be marked as an adware... Some version of vprot.exe contains bug which leads to crash of the application. More information about this bug can be found in AVG Forum.
