yo, dis is def a virus. I mean, my pc is high on something

Because Freemake Video Downloader works with no obvious problems, when CaptureLibService.exe is killed from Task Manager, or deleted from its folder, on WinXP or Win7, makes it suspect in my mind. As it appears not essential then I believe it should be renamed or deleted. It would be good if Freemake authors were to clarify why this program runs even when Freemake Video Downloader has not been started. I installed Freemake VD without any of the included 'extras'

  • THREATrating from user Alex for file %PROGRAMFILES%\FREEMAKE VIDEO DOWNLOADER\CAPTURELIB\capturelibservice.exe (Variant: 14907241)

I have a 6 core at 2.8ghz. After installing freemake downloader, my cpu was always at 100% and capturelibservice was using about 90% of it. My computer was super slow so i killed it and i still can download videos and my computer is just like before.

  • THREATrating from user Marc for file %PROGRAMFILES%\FREEMAKE VIDEO DOWNLOADER\CAPTURELIB\capturelibservice.exe (Variant: 14907241)

My PC was running at 50% CPU utilization on a dual as soon as it would boot. Even after an hour of just leaving it alone the winlogon.exe process was taking up 50% CPU. This is a system process so I guessed some other process must be causing this problem. After a lot of googling and research, for no particular reason, I killed capturelibservice.exe - the CPU usage went down to 2%! Installing Freemake products (converter and downloader), while being great free programs, always make me feel insecure and as though it contains some kind of spyware/malware.

  • THREATrating from user adsf for file %PROGRAMFILES%\FREEMAKE VIDEO DOWNLOADER\CAPTURELIB\capturelibservice.exe (Variant: 14907241)

I've caught capturelibservice using excessive amounts of my cpu while no freeware applications were open. Up to about 85% of my dual core intel cpu was being used. After uninstalling freemake video downloader it dropped down to about 20% which is expected when listening to pandora and downloading a large file(6,176 megabytes or about 6 gigabytes). Either something does not work properly here or there are some shenanigans going on.

  • SAFErating from user MikeOne for file %PROGRAMFILES%\Freemake Video Downloader\CaptureLib\CaptureLibService.exe (Variant: 14907241)

This utility -CaptureLibService- is mostly used in third-party applications and mostly in the Freemake CaptureLib module - this applicatin is a part of the freeware apps for video processing or downloading/capturing (see more on http://www.freemake.com/free_video_downloader/). What they say about this module : "Freemake Video Capture is a necessary component of Freemake Video Downloader. It analyzes information coming from a video web page in order to detect the video source. Thus, the program quickly picks up the needed video file when a user pastes a URL for download. Due to this service, video download from almost any website becomes possible. Please don't disable Freemake Video Capture because the software will stop functioning." Some users reported slow performance when this utility is on, which can be caused by the internet connection and streamed download.
