Necessary driver for enabling WiFi network access on some Asus notebooks with its builting WiFi interface card. Disabling/deleting it will forbif you all accesses via wifi (no replacement driver with a generic Windows driver, Windows Update will reenable this device driver via the PlugnPlay drivers control panel). Unfortunately this driver file itself is not signed itself, but it has a secure signature in the driver installation catalog file (.cat, coming with the .inf installation file) (certified with MS Hardware Quality Labs, which is required on Windows 7 to allow this driver being loaded in boot Safe mode with network access). This driver file is installed with another driver from Microsoft: Windows\system32\drivers\vwifibus.sys which allows creating additional virtual Wifi networks above it (this allows connecting, via a secure VPN over the internet, to a remote Wifi access point running on a Windows host, using the same security level as if you were accessing to that Wifi access point in its limited geographical neighborhood). That second driver is installed along with Windows 7 and maintained by Windows Update and fully compatible with this certified Atheros hardware wifi driver. To make sure that this is a legitimate driver, open the Device manager, and check the "driver details" to see the digital MSHQL signature from the device driver catalog, and check the location of installation: the location should be in: :\Windows\system32\drivers\ on most installations of Windows (the exception being only custom installations created in professional environments with variable deployment options for the location of Windows drivers).
