It is a sync software for HTC mobile phones. It is not per definition a thread but it is a nuisance as it forces you to install Adobe Air, starts with every Windows boot and consumes up to 100 MB of memory while doing nothing except providing an icon to start the actual sync software. You can get rid of it by editing HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\HTC Sync Loader in the Windows registry (at least on Windows XP).
