THREATrating from user SimiKev for file %COMMONFILES%\COREL\STANDBY\STANDBY.EXE (Variant: 7523)
I removed "Common Files\Corel\Standby\Standby.exe" and rebooted -- quiet-time disk utilization went down by 90% and CPU went from steady 20%+ (on a quad-core nevertheless) to near 0%!!! This junk process wants to touch every file on the disk and seems also triggers antimalware/antivirus to check what it's up to! May not be a threat, but is certainly a performance killer. No need to remove Corel app if you need/want it, just delete or rename Standby.exe.

As Joe mentioned a thread must not be necessarily a virus or a malware sometimes useless services from even more useless software can be an equal threat degrading your system performance. i got this with corel digital studio a software which i removed in about 1h of use because is resource consuming and has really no utility whatsoever.

It reads from the disk constantly. In fact it increases it''s activity as you write to disk. Almost as if there is a file watcher running. Definitely degrades write performance because of the constant interruptions to read.
