Sometimes the host is unclear because the IP belongs to a CDN such as Akamai Technologies.
Also, in a Cmd window with admin privileges, I run "ipconfig /displaydns" to see what host name was used for the DNS query. This is especially helpful when one host name may result in any from a large block of IP addresses. Then I can use the host name in my firewall rules for simplicity.

It would save me a lot of time in creating firewall rules and detecting malware if System Explorer included the host name in DNS queries (UDP out to port 53) in logging connections history. Also, with other connections to the internet, use the DNS cache to see what host name corresponds to the IP address used for the connection. Today, I use Microsoft's services.msc to save the services list to a file. I order the columns as Driver Name, Status, Startup Type and Description, with sorting by Driver Name. I compare this file with my other PCs and with older versions of the file for debugging.

In most cases, I find System Explorer to be an improvement over the tools supplied with Windows. In this case, however, I can't use SE to do what I need to do. The problem is that SE groups services into Started and Stopped, and there is no way to turn this off. Comparing services list files using these groupings makes it more difficult to see whether a service was added or just changed in status.
