save position of horizontal scroll in left tree pane

The column space for the icons of System and Tools in the left pane is wasting spaces. I always have to scroll horizontally to see more item names under System and Tools, because I shrink the width of left pane small. Could the horizontal scrolling position be saved in left pane?
