Hello, My Antivirus NOD32 evaluates "updater 12747.exe" as a risky application level 9. Which is very risky. What to do? Should I remove the application? It's not a trojan or a virus. What is this executable application?

don't really know if it is a threat, however I run with one general rule. if the file doesn't allow u to delete it by pressing delete it doesn't belong on my computer (save for system files of course). Was able to delete using Revo Uninstaller with no problems.

Updater has been rattling the hell out of my hard drive for weeks now! I kill the process but it always comes back. I've searched all the Services and startup entries but couldn't find what was starting it or where it came from. I had no idea it was part of Coupon Companion. BTW I did install CC but it's a USELESS program. It's never done what it claims. Be careful using Add/Remove Software to remove Coupon Companion. In the fine print, they add a statement that by removing CC you agree to allow them to install Best-something or other that "SUGGESTS" alternate links for products. You and I call that URL Redirection! So far I haven't found it's hidden location or how to remove it.

  • THREATrating from user MikeOne for file %USERPROFILE%\Local\Updater21804\Updater21804.exe (Variant: 17659819)

This file seems to be clear from the point of antivirus scan and also there is only a small amount of information for it on internet. By some remarks from computers where it runs, this file seems to be a plug-in for Chrome or Firefox - check the plug-ins installed and the Windows registry if spotting such record : O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Updater21804.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Updater21804\Updater21804.exe /extensionid=21804 /extensionname='Coupon Companion Plugin' /chromeid=jneaojaoiajhnemidnjhoempalnidbhj /stayidle /delay=300 - for this it seems the plug-in is a kind of adware from the http://coupon-companion.com/ - check the pages.
