SASCore is safe. If using the on-demand version of SAS, if you do not have SASCore running when you start SAS to run a test, SAS will only do an inferior test. It should be utilizing no CPU time and minimal memory in the on-demand except when you 'demand' SAS to run. http://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/topic/4135-what-is-sas-core-service/ explains all this.

This little baby passes multiple virus/spyware filters, and was able to find and fix some minor but dubious vestiges of some bad mal-adware, stuff hard to dispose of once it gloms onto your system. I think of it as a powerful shotgun approach to system issues and malware/rootkit detection and removal, when realtime scanners and regular batch scanning runs happen to let something by (usually due to a user trusting too much, too soon and without a registry and sysfiles backup. But this thing is free and bangs bad stuff others missed. I consider a useful tool in my arsenal to keep my machine clean. I run it periodically and often scan downloads with it as well.
