It came as an app on my &1,100.00 Sony HandyCam and is from my point of view , simply an app for media viewing and what-not. It's just not sensible that Sony would include an intended threat or virus with its hardware. There may be exploitable code or something like that, but I'm 100% confident that this app was originally designed and given out by sony with ZERO BAD INTENTIONS WHAT-SO-EVER
