I have this on my computer avg and spybot search and destroy both see it as safe. It installed with my LG blu-ray player software and I believe it is an update tool for one of the programs on that disc. The only issue I have with it is that I have to give it permission at every startup. For that reason I would disable it.

Safe but irritating since it suddenly (a few weeks now?) at every computer startup asls for the same LGupdate permission????

It is part of a great service, it is specific to the USB 2.0 device that you bought (mine came with an external LG Blue Ray rewriter) It somehow makes it possible to transfer date at unbelievable speeds through USB 2.0 If you remove it you will have a very annoyingly useless device so be sure that you still have the installation disk or a copy of the file so you can replace it when you realize what you lost. -mm
